Vintage Dance Clubs

Flying Cloud Academy of Vintage Dance - The Flying Cloud is a Cincinnati, Ohio based group founded by Richard Powers. They have an active performance wing to their group. The group tends to focus on relatively formal dances but is also known to occasionally break out in a playful cakewalk. Balls with this group are typically a fancy affair but they make a sincere effort to be approachable and friendly even if you aren't in costume and don't know the dances.

Lexington Vintage Dance - Lexington Vintage Dance's claim to fame are its wonderful weekend workshops with top talent in the vintage dance community. The workshops almost always sell out, so if you want to attend, don't hesitate to register. Additionally, LVD has a skillful and fun group of dancers with regular classes and a performance wing.

Queen City Vintage Dance - Queen City Vintage Dance is the youngest group in the region both by date of founding and the age of its members. They are energetic, lively, and have been putting on excellent events even without the benefit of many years of experience. This club is also a sister club of Dayton Vintage Dance, with both clubs having been founded by Jeanette Watts.

Chattanooga Vintage Dancers - Chattanooga Vintage Dancers holds a few balls per year that some of the Dayton Vintage Dance people carpool down to. They have been lovely hosts to us and provide enjoyable dances.

Dayton Dance Clubs

Dayton Ballroom Dance Club - This is the largest ballroom dance club in Dayton. They primarily practice social modern ballroom dance. Both casual social dancers and established competition dancers share the same floor here. They have weekly lessons on Mondays.

DaytOn1 Salsa - DaytOn1 Salsa is a playful young dance group with weekly lessons on Mondays. They teach and practice several popular Latin dances.

Madame Gigi's Outrageous French Cancan Dancers - MGOFCD is a cancan performance troupe that was once under the same 501(c)3 as Dayton Vintage Dance and shared many members with. They are an audition only group to join, but they often help dancers get to the point they can pass the audition if they aren't quite ready for the main troupe. They perform both locally and will travel if enough troupe members are available.

Dayton Dance Center - Dayton Dance Center has several offerings, but the highlight that few venues are daring enough to do is aerials. Alyenendrov (Lenny) Tsorokean has taught aerials for chorography there. This is distinct from aerial silks, which is also taught there but is unrelated to the types of dance Dayton Vintage Dance focuses on.
